A starting point for understanding lighting technology and finding primary sources. These notes explain established technologies; they are not a live news feed or a product endorsement.
LED lighting: compare the actual product
LEDs are an energy-efficient alternative to incandescent lighting. When comparing products, look at light output in lumens and input power in watts, together with colour quality, dimming compatibility, and the intended application. Savings depend on the product being replaced and how the lighting is used.

DALI-2 and D4i: check certification
The DALI Alliance maintains a database of certified DALI-2 and D4i components. Certification is a useful starting point when checking interoperability; the complete system and its configuration still need to suit the project.
D4i adds defined capabilities for luminaire data and connected control devices. Consult the Alliance’s documentation for the scope of the certification and the requirements that apply to your equipment.

Wireless controls: understand the system
Casambi uses Bluetooth Low Energy for communication between controls and its lighting network. Product compatibility, commissioning, and the requirements for remote access should be checked before specifying a system.

What this means for a design brief
- Define the activities and scenes before choosing a control system.
- Confirm compatible drivers, controls, and sensors.
- Ask how the system will be commissioned and maintained.
- Compare measured or documented performance instead of relying on a headline savings claim.
